Wikipedia has deleted the reference to Programmer’s Day. However, is can still be found at http://m0smith.freeshell.org/blog-humor/2006/09/programmers-day-wikipedia-free.html.

Now get away from the keyboard and get a byte to eat.

  2. Fernando Says:

Congratulations to all programmers…. on the 256th day.

    Bye
    Fernando

  3. KC Says:

If we’re celebrating the 256th day, why does the logo have 1111 1111 (255) instead of 1 0000 0000 ? What are programmers if not detail oriented?

  4. KC Says:

    I just thought, maybe it’s zero-based. E.g. January 1 = Day 0.

  5. Luis Pallares Says:

    apt-get install programmers-day

  6. Peter Says:

    Glædelig programmør dag

  7. admin Says:

That’s right KC - Jan. 1st would be 0000 0000, even though 1111 1111 = 255, it’s the 256th value. You just saved yourself hours of debugging for an off by 1 problem

About time someone starts promoting this (like Administrators day already is) ! Great job!

  18. MiRRoRMaN Says:

Best idea evar. I’ve been a programmer for 20 years now, also always had the nick MiRRoRMaN since I was 13. Started out on a Commodore 64, then Amiga, then Winblows. :) I love coding.

Too bad I missed it this year, but there’s always next year! So a late happy programmers day!!!1

  19. Vladas Says:

Thank you for inventing programmer’s day! It’s exactly falls onto by birthday! (exept leap years, of course).

Maybe because of that I became a programmer?…

    Happy day for all!

  20. admin Says:

I can’t take credit for inventing it, but I do want to promote it. Perhaps I can claim the title of Programmer Day Master of Ceremonies.

  21. Gary B Says:

    ok, my rebuttal.

What does X’FF’ (high-values) have to do with programmers? Why not X’00′ (low-values) aka ‘nulls’? If we’re gonna use binary, then why not ‘01000110′, X’46′, ‘IF’. After all; ‘if’ made programming possible, without it there would be no programmers.
